IBPA King Soopers program agreement and FAQ
LHS IBPA King Soopers Reloadable Gift Card Reward Program Agreement
As parent or guardian of student(s) currently enrolled in the Lakewood High School (“LHS”) International Baccalaureate (“IB”) program, I elect and agree to participate in the King Soopers (“KS”) community rewards program (“Program”) administered by the LHS IB Parent Association (“IBPA”), a Colorado non-profit corporation. I agree to comply fully with all rules and related terms of this Program as set forth below and/or on the IBPA website and/or KS website, as any such rules and terms may be modified from time to time. My participation in this Program seeks to defray IB exam fees for the benefit of LHS IB student(s) and otherwise to benefit IBPA.
1. Funds From KS community rewards. I agree that the Program account for student(s) will be credited solely through funds, if any, generated by amounts earned by me and my designees on Program gift cards purchased from IBPA for use on behalf of such student(s). I understand that Program terms are subject to change at any time and that IBPA in no way influences reward levels or other terms set by KS. The full amount
rewarded by KS community rewards will be credited to the IBPA-administered account for the benefit of the LHS IB student(s) for which I claim credit. Under terms set by KS, rewards may take a few months to issue and so will not be available immediately in the Program
account. To generate ongoing funds through this Program for the benefit of LHS IB student(s), I agree to submit a credit request in the quarter after rewards are granted. Any unclaimed credit is forfeited by me.
2. Funds Will Be Applied Toward IB Exam Fees. I understand and agree that funds generated by Program and credited to the Program account for the benefit of the student(s) are solely to contribute toward IB exam fees incurred by the student(s) and for no other purpose, except as otherwise stated in this Agreement. I further understand that Program rewards apply toward Advanced Placement (“AP”) exam fees only when such an exam is offered in connection with an AP course that is mandatory to the four-year IB curriculum, and so is an IB exam for this purpose. Currently, the only two such IB-required AP courses are AP Human Geography (9 th grade) and AP U.S. History (10 th grade). Program funds apply to fees for AP exams offered for those two AP courses only, and to no other AP exam fees, unless and until any further AP course becomes mandatory to LHS IB. With the exception of these two required AP courses, IB exam fees become due in the fall of each LHS IB student’s junior and senior year. Funds available in the Program account for the benefit of the student(s) will be transferred to the LHS bookkeeper on or shortly before the date set in each academic year as the deadline for any IB exam fee payments (the “Transfer Date”). I remain responsible to pay timely all exam fees incurred by the student(s) not covered by funds generated through this Program for the benefit of such student(s).
3. Unused Funds Will Benefit IBPA. As a Program requirement, participants have no individual ownership rights in KS reward funds. All
issued KS rewards, including those generated for the benefit of the student(s) by use of PRogram, at all times belong to the non-profit IBPA and not to me, my designee(s), or the student(s). KS rewards generated by use of Program are for the benefit of the student(s) only while enrolled in LHS IB and with unpaid IB exam fees. I further agree that any Program funds generated by use of my linked gift card(s) in excess of the total dollar amount due for the student(s)’ IB exam fees (or, if earlier, upon the Transfer Date of my youngest-enrolled LHS IB student’s senior year), will be deposited in IBPA’s operating account. Likewise, if the student(s) discontinue(s) enrollment in LHS IB at any time, for any reason, with no sibling(s) remaining in LHS IB, all Program funds generated on behalf of such student(s) will be deposited in IBPA’s operating account. If one sibling withdraws from LHS IB, KS reward funds will be retained in the Program account linked to my IBPA KS gift card(s) for the benefit of sibling(s) still enrolled in LHS IB (or who plan to enroll within the next two (2) academic years). IBPA will use any Program funds so deposited to support LHS IB. NO CASH REDEMPTION VALUE OR OWNERSHIP INTEREST OF ANY KIND WHATSOEVER EXISTS FOR ANY PROGRAM PARTICIPANT IN ANY KS REWARD FUNDS.
4. Account Summaries. Program account balances are available online using your assigned family number. Detailed Program account summaries are available upon request to [email protected].
FAQ
• How much do I earn in rewards when I use my gift card? You earn up to 5% ($.05/$1.00) back on purchases associated with your rewards card. Currently, IBPA credits the full reward amount received from King Soopers to the student’s account. IBPA reserves the right to change this policy in the future if the needs of the organization change or the community rewards program changes.
• How often does King Soopers distribute rewards? King Soopers issues rewards quarterly and posts information to your account on the same schedule.
• How often does IBPA transfer rewards funds to LHS for deposit in student accounts? Per the request of the school financial secretary, IBPA transfers funds to LHS once per year.
o For juniors and seniors, IBPA transfers money in the fall to pay for IB test fees. IBPA will transfer the full account balance available on the cutoff date up to the full amount for testing fees.
o For freshmen and sophomores students pay for the AP Human Geography or AP US History fees directly. Complete the form available on the main King Soopers information page for reimbursement.
• How does IBPA determine the cutoff dates for the fall and winter checks to LHS and why is it so early in the fall? IBPA must receive funds from King Soopers before they can be credited to the student account. Since IB test fees must be paid in January the last available check from King Soopers will be the third quarter check received in October. Requests for credit must be made by December 31.
• How do I find out my reward balance with IBPA? Click here.
• How much do the IB and AP tests cost? This is solely for informational purposes. NOTE THESE FEES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE: o IB candidate registration fee due junior year - $168 o IB subject test - $116/exam, Juniors take 1 or 2 exams depending upon schedule, Seniors take 4-5 exams. o AP exams - $93/exam
• If my student decides not to continue with IB after sophomore year, can we use our IBPA King Soopers rewards for AP exams in Junior and Senior year? No, the IBPA gift card program is specifically for students who are taking IB exams and cannot be used for AP exams in junior or senior year. The board made the decision to allow the gift cards to be used to pay for one AP exam per year in Freshman and Sophomore year because, traditionally, “pre-IB” students take these classes and it allows Freshman and Sophomore families to benefit from using the gift cards. Any remaining funds on your card at that time will be donated to the IBPA.
• Since your program credits all of the rewards to individual students, can we use our IBPA King Soopers card to pay for other activities, i.e. band, sports, etc.? No, IBPA gift cards can only be used for testing fees as outlined above. Several other groups at the high school have their own separate gift card programs that allow families to raise funds for their specific activities. King Soopers only allows credit towards one organization at a time.
• What happens if I continue to use the card after the fall cut-off for IB fees? IBPA uses the funds to support the IBPA scholarship fund either for administrative cost, i.e. printing donation solicitation letters, or providing additional funds for scholarships. Funds may also be transferred to younger siblings participating in the IB program.
